Every 6 months or so for at least 3 years now, I'm reminded that I have a secret love for the music of Daniel Johnston, yet haven't purchased any of his albums. I'd ask if it were acceptable to be a music snob AND to enjoy Johnston's music, but then it occurs to me that most people haven't a clue who I'm even talking about. My indie hipsterness is safe as long as I don't try to turn others on to his eclectic folk craziness. That said, go rent The Devil And Daniel Johnston. Excellent film about a guy whose music you may or may not enjoy whom you've probably never heard of even though he's probably been an influence on some of your favorite artists.
