Random things

While out and about this evening, I was listening to NPR and This American Life, a program near and dear to my heart, like many on NPR. This evening they were airing an episode about pen pals. Mostly, the show centered around a girl who wrote Manuel Noriega a letter back in the late 80's to try and con a hat out of him because her dad collected hats. Her letter grew into a correspondence back and forth with him, eventually leading to General Noriega inviting her and her mother to come visit, on his dime, and see the nation of Panama. The whole story seemed utterly surreal and wonderful.

Why did no one tell me V For Vendetta came out on dvd today? I'd like to do an "Awesome Comic Book Movies" night featuring V, American Splendor, and Hellboy just for fun.

Tomorrow morning I'm going to the gym at the crack of dawn. Let's see if I can keep this up for the rest of the month until my YMCA membership is up.
