Last night was filled with strange dreams, phantoms of time, and a lack of restful sleep. Still, I haven't been terribly worn out today.
CNN has an accurate review of The Passion, though I'd add that it definitely has the feel of a high-price snuff film. As an enjoyer of art films, I give it a 7 out of 10. If you want a real movie with a story, go see something else (I hear that The Cooler is excellent). If you can't handle gore, stay home. This flick is for the faux religious who need something visual to reinforce their faith and for art film fans with a stomach for violence. BTW, if you were wondering, HIGHLY ANTI-SEMITIC, but then you probably already knew that. What I found more ironic was that women aren't complaining that a woman played Satan. Also, I suspect that Mel was watching Return Of The Jedi prior to setting up some of these scenes. Jesus vanishes from the cave in a very Yoda-esque fashion and King Herod's palace seems a little too similar to Jabba's Palace. Maybe I just see Star Wars in everything though.
Plans for the evening include dinner with Leslie. It'll be nice to get out for the night.
