now i remember why i refused to play local LARP games for so long...not only do many of the local players not know how to play properly, but the ST's maintaining those games don't bother to either help them along or to even be smart about what they are doing. who the hell ever heard of an 11th gen Lasombra just happening to have intermediate level quietus?! worse yet, the character is a ST. i played an assamite for quite awhile, did a lot of personal research into how the clan thinks, behaves, etc. no assamite would teach such a thin blooded character anything beyond the basic levels, maybe an intermediate level. they especially wouldn't teach some thin blooded lasombra quietus, unless it was in exchange for something major and he killed him right afterwards. i hate ST's who go about letting players (and themselves) have disciplines willy-nilly that their characters, no matter how good of a background, would never have any reason to have. it's one thing when it's an experienced player who has a valid reason for having gained a discipline, but when it's a clan-specific discipline that very rarely escapes the clan, especially something like quietus or serpentis, it upsets me that the ST is that stupid. if i were an ass, i'd go out to said game and play for a short time as an assamite just to be there when the lasombra shows that he has one of the clan specific disciplines and then kill him for it. *gumbles with annoyance* worse yet, the st is helping another player by siring her next character...she doesn't even know what bloody gen she should be, even though that's determined by his gen. GAHHHHH!!!|
*calms self and wanders off*
Addendum: the ST for the game that i'll be helping narrate in a few weeks had this to say: "righty then.... as a narrator it is your job to whack me soundly upside the head if I get that frickin' dumb." i'm glad someone whose grasp of the rules i respect agrees with me...
