[Somedays I feel a little: |dorkydorky]

yes, i added a last name to my livejournal today. no, you weren't unobservant before. i was writing up a character today during class and i decided that i would make the character myself, modeled after who I am here. I'd like to play him as a Salubri, but I don't think I'll find a single game that will let me play him as such. Perhaps another Assamite, or even a Ventrue. Yes, I think Raven would be either Ventrue or Malkavian. Maybe a Malkavian whose major malfunction is his need to be prophetic and pithy. It sounds so Toreador, but Toreador are such a flimsy clan. ::realizes he sounds like he's in character already:: Ventrue it is. :)

::hits his head on his desk:: I wonder if I should get some work done? nah...

so i decided i hate my sociology class with a passion today.

absolutely hate it.

its not that i hate sociology in and of itself, because i liked sociology in high school. i like the idea of what sociology is all about. unfortunately, my sociology teacher seems to believe that he should teach basing everything off of religion, sports, or local historical lore. i would be fine with this typically, since that is a lot of what society is based around, but it's usually just religion. and more often than not, religous stuff that would be a stretch to relate to what he is talking about. what bothers me more is he fails to ever recognize another religion other than christianity. case in point: he was going into the realm of psychology briefly a few weeks ago and started talking about the classic Oedipal complex: boy hates father because of need to compete and need to be loved by his mother. hence boy hates father because he takes away some love that mother could have for him. but he related it to some old obscure bible story instead. when i mentioned that this was a much older syndrome known as a little thing called the Oedipal complex (he also teaches psych, so he had to have studied Freud at some point, or at least have heard of the play Oedipus...) He just shrugged off my comment that this was something mapped out before his bible story in greek mythology. i made a point another time about how most religions have heavily similar stories and that the core of most religions is the same ideas told in a VERY slightly different fashion. With a few of their personal prejudices tossed in (jews being bad in the eyes of some christians, everyone not christian is bad to christians, jews hate gentiles, palestinians hate all of us, the eastern world hates the western world {damned crusades...}) So why stick with the judeochristian thoughts in sociology? why not look at how other religions interact, or how all religions interact. the class is supposed to be about how people interact, not how christians interact and how biblical figures interacted. ::angry sigh:: i'll get over it i quess...the class is only for 7 more weeks...::bangs head on desk::
